MURIEL GRATEAU – From Tables to Fingers

A favorite of the Barefoot Contessa of the Food Network, Paris designer Muriel Grateau is traditionally known for her über elegant tableware and linens. At her Paris rive gauche boutique, you’ll find the finest linens in every color under the sun – this woman believes in perfection!

Grateau has also begun to design jewelry keeping in line with her minimalistic palette and strong lines. There is an Art Deco flare to the pieces – yet her bagues and baubles are thoroughly modern.

Her use of onyx, coral and rock crystal is especially reminiscent of Art Deco style coupled with the hand-carved details that render her pieces completely unique and recognizable.

I really like that she has stuck to an austere palette of black, white, red, gray and smoky brown even though the choices for color in gemstones is virtually limitless.

She has done something totally her own which is quite a task in the very crowded jewelry market.

It is wonderful to see a designer pursue her own style – brushing-off trends and thereby creating something truly worth ooohing and ahhhing over C’est Magnifique, Muriel!
